Torres and Roldan Take UTV-Class Win at Dakar
At this year’s edition, Leandro Torres and co-driver Lourival Roldan became the very first Dakar SSV class winners, taking the 2017 title in their factory Xtreme Plus Polaris RZR1000XT machine.

The Dakar adventure began back in 1977, when Thierry Sabine got lost on his motorcycle in the Libyan desert during the Abidjan-Nice Rally. Despite his close call, he returned to France still in thrall to this landscape and promising himself he would share his fascination with as many people as possible, and the Dakar has been running for more than 30 years since.
One of five Polaris crews to enter the world’s toughest race, Leandro Torres and co-driver Lourival Roldan dominated the second half of Dakar 2017, gradually extending their lead over fellow Polaris crews, after all other rival manufacturer teams retired before the mid-point rest day.

Since then, the Paris-Dakar, a unique event sparked by the spirit of adventure, open to all riders and carrying a message of friendship between all men, has never failed to challenge, surprise and excite.
