Here are the highlights from the UTV classes at the 2018 Wiseco John Penton GNCC Race at Sunday Creek Raceway in Millfield, Ohio.
The John Penton is one of the longest-running GNCCs around. It is held at Sunday Creek Raceway, a popular motocross track in Southern Ohio.
The event is named after one of the pioneers of off-road motorcycle racing in America, John Penton. Penton is the man who originally imported the KTM motorcycle from Austria into the United States. He did so much to improve the KTMs he imported that they were commonly referred to as Penton’s back then.
This year’s John Penton GNCC was a hot and humid one, but a downpour on Sunday cooled things down. That bout of rain also turned the event into a real mudder.

The GNCC (Grand National Cross Country Series) was founded in 1975, and the 13-round championship is produced exclusively by Racer Productions. GNCC has more than a 100 different classes, including grueling three-hour GNCC races that lead more than 2000 riders through tracks ranging in length from eight to 12 miles, competing for more than $3 million in contingency prizes. With varied terrain, including hills, woods, mud, dirt, rocks and motocross sections, GNCC events are tests of both survival and speed.
