Phil Blurton is one of the UTV racers who will be lined up at the start gate of the 2018 Mint 400.
Phil Blurton put his name in the off-road books in 2017 when he won the UTV World Championship and was named “Rookie of the Year.”
His performance earned him a factory sponsorship and boosted the business and fame of his fabrication shop No Limit Race Development.
Phil’s father, Phil Senior (pictured below), has also raced the Mint and many other desert races. Senior helped develop what is commonly accepted as the first UTV racing class in the 1980s with his creation of a desert racing vehicle. The machine Blurton Sr. helped make was based on the chassis of the Honda Odyssey and was powered by a Ski-Doo motor and had a Polaris clutch.
Young Blurton is set to contest his second Mint 400 at this year’s event in Vegas.
